OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19
As we reopen for in-person classes, we want to keep you informed about what we are doing to keep the community safe:
- We are cleaning and disinfecting the studio before each class.
- No student will be required to attend in-person classes once and we will continue offering classes via Zoom.
- Face coverings will be required for all people within the facility.
- All students must use hand sanitizer upon entering the facility.
- The dressing room will NOT be in use. Students should come to class completely dressed under their street clothes (ballet slippers should be put on once they are in the building) and must keep all their belongings in a bag that they take with them into the studio or leave with their parent during class.
- There will be NO show-and-tell items allowed.
- Adults may not attend combined adult/youth classes in-person, but may attend via Zoom.
- We will control entry/exit from the studios and assign places within the classroom to enforce social-distancing.
- No hugs or other physical contact between students will be allowed.
- The only parents allowed to remain in the facility during classes will be those whose children need assistance using the restroom or those with special circumstances approved with the directors.
- Students must be dropped off 5 minutes in advance of class and picked up promptly at the end.
- Classes in the small studio are limited to 5 students, and classes in the large studio are limited to 9 students.
Slavin Nadal School of Ballet offers ballet and pilates classes for children, youth, and adults. As a cultural treasure of the Austin community, our ballet academy is dedicated to providing the finest classical ballet technique and artistry to our students.

Our History
A cultural treasure of the Austin community, this ballet academy has been providing the finest classical ballet training for over 25 years. Prior to opening the Slavin Nadal School of Ballet in 1989, Eugene Slavin and Alexandra Nadal were the founders of Ballet Austin and the Ballet Austin Academy (1983), and served as Artistic Directors of Ballet Austin and its predecessors – Austin Civic Ballet and Academy – for 17 years (1972–1989). They were principal dancers with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet before their arrival in Austin in 1972. The Slavins chose their longtime protégé, Joseph Nygren Cox, and his wife, Kimberly Nygren Cox, to succeed them as directors of the school.
Our Students
Students who have studied ballet exclusively at Slavin Nadal School of Ballet have transitioned directly into professional careers with excellent ballet companies – an important factor in the assessment of any serious ballet school. Many students have had fulfilling careers as corps de ballet, soloists and principal dancers with ballet companies in the United States and Europe, as well as starring on Broadway and London’s West End. Most significant, however, are the hundreds of students of all levels and ages whose lives have been enriched by dance and all that it can give the body and spirit.

At Slavin Nadal School of Ballet, we believe that whether it is a young child being introduced to the pleasures of classical ballet, a student with aspirations for a professional career, or a person of any age who is looking for fun and satisfying way to keep fit, it is possible to combine enjoyment with challenge, the everlasting appreciation of an art form, and the highest quality training.
